What Is a Breast Lift?
A mastopexy is a surgical procedure that can restore a more elevated breast position by removing excess, stretched skin from the area. Breast tissue is also lifted and remodeled to ensure a symmetrical, aesthetic final outcome. Additionally, a breast lift can include areola reduction and nipple repositioning.
Am I a Good Candidate for a Breast Lift?
Ideal breast lift candidates are those who have lost firmness and elasticity from one or more of the following causes:
- Aging
- Pregnancy
- Breastfeeding
- Weight fluctuations
The Breast Lift Consultation
During your breast lift consultation, Dr. Jacobson will examine your breasts to determine if you would be a good candidate for this treatment. He may take measurements and pre-op photos for surgical planning.
What to Expect During Breast Lift Surgery
To begin, anesthesia will be administered. Once Dr. Jacobson is assured of your comfort, he will create the necessary incisions. Breast lifts typically involve one of the following incision techniques:
- Circle (around the areola)
- Lollipop (around the areola with an additional vertical line from the lower edge of the areola down to the crease)
- Anchor (around the areola with a vertical line down to the crease and another line along the breast crease)
What to Expect After Breast Lift Surgery
After breast lift surgery, you’ll have bandages or a surgical support bra to reduce swelling and ensure the breasts adhere to their new position. Patients are usually required to wear this support garment for a few weeks. Small tubes may also be left in the incisions temporarily to allow any excess blood or fluid to drain.
How Much Does a Breast Lift Cost?
The overall cost of your breast lift will reflect the extent of your customized procedure and includes facility and anesthesia fees. Additional costs will apply if you combine your mastopexy with a breast reduction or augmentation. A more specific price can be determined during your initial examination.
