Brazilian Buttock Lift
Your Consultation
When you choose to get a Brazilian butt lift done, you will first meet with Dr. Joshua Jacobson for a consultation. During this, you will talk about your cosmetic goals for the surgery.
What Is a Brazilian Buttock Lift?
The Brazilian butt lift (also called the BBL) is a buttocks-enhancement procedure that involves implanting the patient’s excess fat from a different part of their body into their buttocks to augment its shape. Fat can also be injected into hip dips (indentations below the hips) to reduce their appearance.
Good Candidates for a Brazilian Buttock Lift
Healthy adults between the ages of 18 and 65 can opt for a Brazilian buttock lift. It is important for the patient to have enough excess body fat to be used for grafting.
The procedure is perfect for people who:
- Have a flat or shapeless buttocks
- Have an asymmetrical buttocks
- Have a sagging buttocks
- Have a disproportionate buttocks after losing a lot of weight
- Want to get rid of their hip dips
- Want the appearance of wider hips and an hourglass figure
How Does a Brazilian Buttock Lift Work?
The procedure is a minimally invasive surgery and will be carried out under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation. After the administration of anesthesia, Dr. Jacobson will use gentle liposuction to extract fat from areas like the back, tummy, love handles, or thighs.
BBL Post-Surgical Care
After the BBL procedure, it is normal to experience some temporary bruising and swelling at the site of the injections and the harvest site. These issues will fade during the recovery process. Any discomfort felt after the procedure will pass in a few days.
BBL Post-Surgical Instructions
Patients will be provided with instructions they need to follow after a Brazilian buttock lift. With these instructions, they can reduce recovery symptoms and get the best results possible from the procedure. Some instructions may vary depending on the patient, while others are given to all patients.
- Use ice packs to help reduce swelling.
- Get out of bed early in the recovery process and walk with assistance.
- Sleep on your stomach.
- Follow instructions when taking pain medications.
- Wear a compression garment for six weeks.
- For diet, start with clear liquids then gradually switch to a soft diet for the first three days.
- Drink plenty of fluids.
- Use a “booty pillow” to avoid putting pressure on the buttocks while sitting.
- Perform light massages on the liposuction-treated area to boost recovery.
During recovery, it’s best to avoid:
- Lying or sitting in a position that applies pressure on the buttocks
- Smoking, as it can disrupt wound healing
- Resuming a normal diet right after the procedure
- Eating spicy and salty foods
- Performing strenuous activities, including driving and working out, for the first couple of weeks of recovery or until allowed by the doctor
- Sexual intercourse
- Hot tubs, jacuzzis, or swimming pools while the incision has not yet fully healed
